I tend to include indications of human infrastructure
in my landscape paintings rather than fabricate a sense of true
wilderness. I appreciate greatly the non-human natural world,
but I am not naïve about the limits and controls we place upon
it in populated areas. The human imprints are signs of alteration,
but also of accessibility and safety. Regardless of this limitation
of the "nature" I see, I look for beauty and resonance,
with or without obvious human meddling.
As with my other paintings, I particularly enjoy
working with scenes that show depth and perspective.
